Thank you for your interest in the CCPS Head Start program. The Head Start program was developed in 1965 by the Office of Economic Opportunity to meet the needs of low-income students who may not have the necessary readiness skills to be successful in school. Students are selected for Head Start based on the criteria and guidelines set by the National Head Start Association and Calvert County Public Schools Head Start program.

For placement the Federal Poverty Guidelines are used. Different levels of income can be accepted for different programs.

AGE LIMITS

• Children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2024, to apply for the 4-year-old Head Start program.

• Children must be three years old on or before September 1, 2024, to apply for the 3-year-old school-based Head Start program.

Children must be three year old for the 3-year-old Home Based program.

STEP 1

Before you do the electronic application have all required documentation listed below copied and ready to load electronically into the application. Please note until all documents are received the application cannot be processed.

Required Documentation for ALL Applications:

1. Proof of Identity of Parent/Guardian enrolling student (Driver’s License or Passport)

2. Proof of Birth (Birth Certificate)

3. Proof of Residency (Deed, Mortgage Statement, Notarized Rental Agreement/Lease, Multi-Family Disclosure Form)

4. Immunization Record (Vaccination Record)

5. Proof of Income (Examples: 2021 W-2, Tax return-1040, Schedule C/1099, 4 recent consecutive pay stubs, Child Support, FSP, TCA (TANF), SSI, SNAP (EBT/Independence Card), rental income, unemployment verification or statement of no income, letter stating employment income) 6. Current physical.
