Thank you for your interest in Chugachmiut's Birth to Five Head Start Program. We serve the communities in Cordova, Nanwalek, Port Graham, Seward, and Valdez. Head Start is a federally funded program designed to help children from low-income families develop the skills they need for success in school and life. Children from birth to age five are eligible for Head Start and Early Head Start if their family’s income is below federal poverty guidelines. Additionally, children and families in the following categories are also eligible: America Indian and Alaska Native, Families experiencing homelessness, Families receiving public assistance like TANF, ATAP, SNAP, or SSI, Foster children, regardless of the foster family’s income. After submitting an application, families will need to participate in an eligibility interview with our enrollment staff to determine what documents are required to verify eligibility.
